new year, new you!

I am so excited about the new year! Here are a few resolutions I have made for the new year.

1. Improve my treat-getting skills. (i need to learn a few more tricks, plus practice my puppy dog eyes/facial expressions)

2. I would like to lose one pound. I can't seem to fit into my sweaters... oof!

3. I would like to at least double my lizard collection.

4. I would like to start my pup-fiction novel!

-------------------------What are your new years resolutions?

I want to take a second to look back at me when I was a puppy. Oh my goodness! Ain't I the cutest thing you have ever seen??? Hope you have a happy new year!!!!

the super stretch

Being a cute puppy is so very hard work. So every morning when I wake up I have to do my puppy stretches and calisthenics. As you can see here I am attempting the "downward long puppy" pose. You have to make sure to get your back paws stretched waaaay out behind you and lift your head up as to stretch out the back. Oh yeaaaaaaah! This one is good, you should try it!

I have been busy

I am so sorry to all my favorite dog friends. I have been so very busy exploring the back yard and chewing up many things. I know I need to put more time into my blog because my life is SO very interesting. Today I chewed a rawhide and played with a plastic duck. Yes, it is very exciting.

I love saturdays, because I get to run in the backyard all day! (well, unless I start barking alot, then I get sent back in the house... Sometimes I bark just to mess with my owners. HA... please dont tell them)

Well i better go, but I leave you a picture I took of myself while typing, I think I look fat, but the camera does add 10 lbs, so I must not be too big. ;)

why am i so cute?

you can ask me, but you only can experience the cuteness in person. That's right. I don't bite, but I usually knock out new friends with my cuteness the first time they see me. So if you are coming over to our house, make sure your bring headache medicine and a cold pack ;) sooooooo good!

BARK! BARK!!! BARK!!

Im 40!

it is my 40th post! I think that has to be a record for a Doxie posting on the internet. I should get a prize!!! Where's my owner with a treat when you need her? Anyways. Today I am doing a little of this and a little of that so make sure you check back with me from time to time because I AM BACK!!!

Just like Michael Jordan, except for my comeback will be better than before!!! I hope to show you some of my new dance moves on video. So let's hope I can steal.. I mean borrow the camera when my owner goes to lunch! ;) hee hee...

Who is cuter? Me or me??

I have adjusted quite nicely into my new home. It is a bigger house than I am used to, but I wanted to make sure that my owners felt comfortable in my house, so I made sure they bought one big enough for the three of us. I still am getting used to the layout. I am sleeping through the night, but sometimes I get confused where I am when I wake up from my puppy naps.

Lately, I have to admit, I have been in a grumpy mood. I don't know if it is growing pains or what, but my owners have been on my bad side. Lately
I had to put my paw down a few times because they have been so busy putting the house together that they forget to spend quality time with me. When I say quality time I mean... belly rubbing time!

I am writing this blog so that they may understand how much they are forgetting how cute I am. When it comes to cuteness I am only in competition with myself, but let me tell you that is some stiff competition. Yes, I may barely win this one. But please don't forget how cute I am. Wouldn't you rub my belly as much as possible if you had me?

learning to drift...

I am trying to get used to our wood floors. I am so used to running on carpet so this has definitely been a transition. I have to watch myself because if I am running full speed and try to stop, I am going to crash into a wall.

This has not been fun. I had to learn to slow down, but thats no fun at all. Then I learned something new!

The other day I was watching some movie about car racing with my owner. He's into these kind of movies, I kinda just tolerate them. Anyways, I was watching these cars as they were flying around tight corners. They did this really cool thing called "drifting". I don't know if you've ever seen it, but it is really interesting.

I thought to myself, "What if I apply these same principles around the house?" Anyways, I learned that if I keep my back legs churning as I fly around the corner I can get just enough traction to make the turn. Boy is it fun! Now I can chase after all the chew toys without crashing into walls. (well most of the time)

You should see me run, its like a whole new Pancho--drift style!

Shadow Barking

I still haven't become used to the new home. I still smell all these weird smells and am seeing so many new things!!! I am so glad I got my internet back up so I can bark to you about it all!

I have been very busy helping unpack the boxes and I make sure to chew everything I pull out to make it easier to store. We have so many boxes piled around everywhere, it really makes it hard for a dog to have a good line of sight through the house. Lately my owner's have been popping out from behind boxes and scaring me. I can't help it if I yelp at them. I just can't see over all these boxes?!?!

The other night I was just so tired that I was barking at shadows in the street. See we have some big trees in our yard and sometimes when its almost dark I mistake these shadows for booger bears. I can't help it I am a highly trained watch dog... Well I am not highly trained... Im not really a watch dog either. I just like to bark at everything.Don't you?

Anyways it is nice to FINALLY be in our house. I have my bed all settled, now its time for my owners to get their boxes emptied and throw them away. It's a good thing I let them use my closet space for their silly stuff. Ha! Bark at you later!

bogging blues

I apologize for not blogging lately. I have been SO very busy. Recently my owners bought me a new house, so I have been very diligently packing my puppy items. I try to help my owners by packing things under the bed, but they don't seem too happy when I do that. I am just trying to help?!?

Anyways this blog is to let you know I will be taking a small blogging break while I move my owners into our new home. But I will be back as soon as I get internet set up in the new house. So keep checking back! Thank you for your faithful readership!

Doglight savings...

I am so disoriented! The past two days my owners have been keeping such weird hours. It seems as if on sunday they decided to change their whole routine up and I cannot understand for the life of me why? We all have been sleeping so well. Why on earth would they want to get up at what seems like a whole hour earlier than usual?!?!

I don't get it. Like yesterday, I didn't want to get out of bed but they dragged me out into the cold morning to do... you guessed it "GO potty!" So I decided to change it up and this morning I got up an hour before them and made a bunch of noise so they would have to take me out to go potty a whole hour earlier (5AM human time). Hopefully this will change their mind about waking me up early tomorrow! --bol!-- barking out loud

Friday blues

I have the Friday blues. Fridays my owners try to sleep in as late as possible. So I am sitting here in my crate, bored outta my wits. So I decided to just start typing and tell you about my Friday Blues. I tried to wake up my owner at 6:00 this morning. I was ready to go for a run. He didn't seem at all happy to go outside with me?!?! What was his deal?

I struck every cute pose possible and I even went potty really fast. But, nothin... He just stood there like a zombie. It is so quiet and nice this early! I was ready to get the day started. Then... I got dragged back in the house and put back in my crate? what the heck?!? But then I checked my "Great Dachshunds in History" wall calendar, and I remembered. Oh... It's Friday...

See, Friday is my owner's day off. They like to roll around in bed until some horribly late hour like 8AM or even 830. Are you kidding me?!?!? All the squirrels and birds have gone by then. What am I going to chase after now? Anyways, at least I have my trusty computer to check out how to install "puppy-cam" in my crate, so you can get a live feed of me 24 hours a day!!! I can't even imagine the cuteness...

P-P-PANCHO!!!!

Here I sit at 6:00 AM just waiting for someone to walk me. I even put my leash on and everything. Don't I look sad? Not really. I look ridiculously good looking. Yes I am. I love you my fans, keep reading!!!

snake attack!

Tonight when I was going out for my last lap around the yard, I was stopped dead in my tracks by a snake. Now the rule of thumb is that you have to take about 18 inches away from the snake when you first see it because it freaks you out! SO in my mind this snake was 10 feet minus eighteen inches. Not really, but my owner and I jumped back about 5 feet when we first saw it.

I didn't know what to do at first. It seemed friendly enough, but then it took a swipe at me. Luckily I am twice as nimble as I am cute, so I was not hurt. But boy did my master freak out. He wouldn't let me go teach it some manners. He kept pulling me away. The worst part of the whole thing is that I still had to go use the restroom when we came back in. I guess I'll just have to hold it until the morning. Oh well, I like my comfy bed. Hopefully I won't dream of waterfalls and rivers and rain. sigh...

Distant Relative

Im not one for promoting other dogs, as I am the most handsome and interesting creature I know, but I will make an exception for my distant cousin from Saskatchewan. Isn't he so cute? I mean not as cute as me obviously, but still in the top ten cutest things youve seen today?

evil squirrels

Lately, these two squirrels have been dropping peanut shells in our yard. They are so rude. I have been barking at them and trying to get them to stop, but every time I start to tell the squirrels to cut it out, one of my owners runs over and shushes me?!? I look at them like, "I'm helping you out here?!?!" As soon as I try again I hear "Pancho, be quiet!!" You'd think that they would appreciate my efforts to keep the yard clean. But no.

When we go outside I have been trying to pick up after these dastard squirrels, eating any peanut shell i see. But, what do you think happens? You guessed it. "No Pancho, put that down. Don't eat THAT?!" I mean it's one thing to keep me from telling the squirrels to stop, but now you won't let me clean up their mess? Geez, my owners are so clueless sometimes. I guess they like the peanut shell mess in their front yard.

I mean look, my job is to protect and serve (and look cute). But, if you won't let me do my job then I am going to have to have to go on puppy-strike and demand better terms. Wait. Let me review my terms. Right now I get all the Eukanuba I can eat. I get fresh water and a warm bed and blanket to snuggle in... Okay, maybe you guys can get away with this once... But just once...

Fame!!! I'm gonna live forever...

Just thought I would leave you with the latest photo of me. One of my fans finally put my good-lookingness to use! I am a now featured in the metropolitan museum of "pupular" art. Aren't I handsome? Note the use of color and my fantastic puppy bone-structure! Enjoy!!!

world domination... well first the United States

Well. I have just registered for a program called Google Analytics and it has been a very nice tool for me to track all the dogs out there that are checking my website. It is fun to use because there are a few poodles in San Diego that follow me. Plus I found out I actually have a decent following from New Hampshire... New Hampshire WOOT!

So if you do not have this for your blog or website, you should try it. All you have to do is use your google account. (well i am secretly using my owner's account, there is no such thing as a puppy-proof computer! rotfb-rolling on the floor barking)

Anyways keep checking the website and telling your friends about handsome me. Speaking of handsome! If you are looking for a great Valentine's day gift for your loved one, you can cut and paste one of my pictures on to your cheesy Valentine's day card and it will up the value by 250% Your loved one will see my handsome face and hopefully transfer part of the affection toward you!

Anyways have a great week and make sure to tell you closest puppy "hello" and rub his/her belly!

okay, its cold!

Here's the deal. I am a short haired dachshund. SHORT hair. So could you please turn up the thermostat? Its been way too cold here in Florida. This is the sunshine state. I want to roll around in the grass and sun my belly!

Lately I have just gone outside to do my business and Im ready to come back in!!! I would rather sun my belly with the overhead reading lamp inside, thank you very much.

Today my owners slept in... and so did I! It was so cold this morning I didn't even move. You'd think by the way I was talking we live in Michigan. But didn't I tell you, I'm a short-haired... okay, you heard me last time. We were specially bred for laying out on sunny patches of grass and sipping limeaid by the pool. Helloooo you think this good-lookingess happens naturally??

Well... it does, but can you please warm up already?

i am just too faaaast!

Sometimes when i am getting ready for bed I like to pretend I'm all sleepy, and then right when my master comes to put me in my crate I burst with puppy like agility and run out of the room. zooooom!

Why can't they catch me?
A.)I am faster than a speeding bullet.
B.)I am agile like Tom Jones in his hey-day
C.) My great-grandmother won the Wiener-Nationals-Rally Race in 1979
D.) I weave in and out of kitchen table legs like Mario Andrussi* (tribute to Roy Mercer)
E.) Because I said so.

Oh wait!!! I just got caught.
Dangit... Time for bed :(

ill break you!!!

This week my owner's have been torturing me! I have been in my crate too long. Don't they know that this is MY apartment. Another thing, everytime we go outside my owner's stare and me and say "go potty!" I am being serious, that is what they say!?!

I know how to use the restroom. But why would I want to go outside? The ground is so dirty and hard. No fun. Outside is for chasing squirrels and running down the neighbors' Yorke, not for using the restroom. Geez. I wish they would get a clue.

But, I want to make them happy (because I am so benevolent by nature). So I guess I will try and "go potty" outside instead of inside. I just don't understand their obsession with it this week, but I know that they mean business. Plus I really miss laying on the couch and being incredibly good looking, so Im gonna try and learn this new trick quickly! Bark at you later!

my cousin and I

This weekend my owners took me up to Canton, GA to visit with my dog-in-law Jean Valjean. He is a pretty cool dog. He is three years old and a dapple. We are both very handsome. It is very hard to explain the amount of good-lookingness that was emanating from that house, it kept everyone warm.

Puppies Gone Wild

This weekend my owners decided I needed a vacation, because I spend all my days looking so cute and adorable for them. They decided that I deserved to go up to Atlanta to see my cousin Jean Valjean. He is a miniature dacshund, like myself. (Yes its hard to believe that two incredibly good looking dogs are going to be under one roof at the same time). So I am getting my best outfit for the cold weather ready!

ill do anything for a treat

Here is one of my favorite tricks. I know you wouldn't believe me that I have mad hops, so I had my owners take some action photos for me. Enjoy! (insert Superman theme music)
